In Honor of Richard A. Kuehnle
Founder – Mentor – Leader
It is with deep respect and heartfelt remembrance that we honor the life and legacy of Richard A. Kuehnle, a pioneer in Michigan’s real estate industry and a man whose vision, integrity, and leadership left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know and work with him.
Richard’s career in real estate began in 1964 with Bruce G. Pollock & Associates in Flint, Michigan, where he rose to the role of Vice President of Property Management. His decades of service thereafter were characterized by innovation, ethical leadership, and a deep-seated belief in the value of relationships.
In March 1975, Richard founded Kuehnle Management Company with a clear mission: to deliver excellence in the management of multi-family and commercial real estate. Through his guidance, the company thrived, managing over 3,000 garden-style apartments and more than 150,000 square feet of office, retail, and medical space. But Richard’s ambitions didn’t stop there.
With the addition of Jim Tubbs in 1978, the company became Kuehnle, Tubbs and Associates, Inc., broadening its reach into property acquisition and development, serving banks, franchises, and builders with the same personalized attention Richard was known for. In 1981, responding to client demand, he established a Residential Division, a move that reflected both his business acumen and his commitment to meeting the evolving needs of the community.
In 1987, Richard guided the next evolution of the company by affiliating with Coldwell Banker, forming Coldwell Banker Kuehnle and Associates. Under his leadership, the firm combined national reach with local expertise, delivering top-tier service while maintaining the personalized, client-first philosophy that Richard championed.
More than a successful businessman, Richard was a mentor, a collaborator, and a friend. He built more than a company—he built a legacy of trust, professionalism, and community that will
continue to endure.
Through every stage of growth—from the creation of Kuehnle, Tubbs and Associates, Inc., to the launch of our affiliation with Coldwell Banker—Richard led with integrity, wisdom, and a deep commitment to both his clients and his team. His reputation was built not just on success, but on trust, relationships, and an unwavering dedication to doing what is right.
As we continue our work today, we do so in honor of Richard’s legacy. His standards remain our standards—professionalism, transparency, excellence, and care in every transaction. We are proud to carry forward his vision and values in all we do.
Richard’s legacy lives on in the service we provide, the trust we earn, and the relationships we build. It is a privilege to continue the work he began and to honor his life through our continued commitment to the highest level of real estate service.
